About Me

I have always loved making things. As a young child, my mother taught me how to knit, crochet, sew and embroider - and more than that, she always encouraged me to try and make things myself.

After I graduated college in 2007, I moved to California and began working in after-school programs with high-needs, low-income elementary school students. Working with children has been my passion ever since, and I still work with kids today. The places I've worked have always been very low budget - which has inspired me to develop lots of low-cost art projects and activities, and helped me learn to prioritize making things simply and well without spending a lot of money.
In 2011, I married the best teammate and partner-in-crime I could have wished for. We worked together with friends and family to handcraft a beautiful wedding. Almost everything - including our chuppah, my wedding dress, our favors and invitations, and much more - we made ourselves.

Both of us have chosen to follow our passions in our careers instead of prioritizing income, and we love figuring out life hacks and simple, homemade ways of doing things. Whenever we get stuck on how to do something, one of us will say "there's got to be a better way" - so I decided to start this blog to share some of those "better ways" that we've figured out with all of you!

I'm not saying that I have it all down - I definitely don't. I just love making things and I love sharing them - and I hope you'll enjoy hearing about some of those things here.
